Challenges.

Cabotswood faced a major gap between their premium physical products and their online presence, which didn’t communicate the craftsmanship and quality of their country boots. They needed to create different shopping experiences effectively converting various customer types, from country lifestyle enthusiasts to fashion-focused urban customers. Building international e-commerce functionality presented technical challenges, as they needed to manage different currencies, shipping options, and order processing across multiple countries.

We held extensive discussions with the Founders and Managing Directors to understand their brand vision, then built a sophisticated e-commerce platform matching their premium positioning whilst maximising sales opportunities.

Marketing Strategy.

We conducted thorough market research positioning Cabotswood against competitors like Le Chameau and Hunters, finding their unique advantage in offering premium quality at more accessible prices.

Our customer analysis identified three main customer types and created targeted messaging for each, mixing aspirational country lifestyle with practical product benefits. We designed a multi-channel approach emphasising organic search, focused social media, and partnerships with country lifestyle publications and events. Our pricing recommendations maximised perceived value whilst maintaining competitive advantages in key products.

Our content strategy focused on stories around British craftsmanship, highlighting Cabotswood’s 30-year history and attention to detail in every boot.

Wireframe.

Our user journey planning developed complete pathways for different customer types, finding key touchpoints and sales opportunities for country enthusiasts, fashion-focused urban customers, and international buyers.

We reorganised the site structure for simple navigation, making products easy to find within three clicks from anywhere. Each layout was designed to reduce customers leaving at critical buying moments, with well-placed trust signals, simple checkout, and clear action buttons.

We created responsive layouts for mobile, tablet, and computer views, ensuring consistent experience across all devices whilst adapting to the unique needs of each screen size. Through interactive prototyping, we built clickable versions letting stakeholders experience the shopping flow before design work, gathering important feedback improving the final layouts.

Design.

We translated Cabotswood’s heritage craftsmanship into digital design, using textures, colours, and fonts evoking premium country lifestyle whilst feeling contemporary.

Our visual design work resulted in five distinct design concepts emphasising product photography and craftsmanship details, ensuring Cabotswood boots’ quality was immediately obvious to visitors.

We created custom interface elements including bespoke product filters, size selectors, and photo galleries improving the shopping experience whilst reflecting the brand’s unique character. Through extensive mood board work, we showed how the website would appear alongside competitors and in different browsing contexts.

We built a complete design system with reusable parts, ensuring visual consistency throughout the site whilst enabling efficient additions as their product range expands.

Development.

We built a completely custom responsive e-commerce platform optimised for conversions on all devices, with custom product filtering and discovery features effectively showcasing Cabotswood’s premium boots.

Our international commerce setup included multiple currency support, country-specific tax calculations, and connections to international shipping and fulfilment services serving their global customers.

We integrated secure payment processing with multiple options including credit cards, PayPal, and Apple Pay to maximise checkout completion and reduce abandoned carts. Performance improvements including advanced caching, image optimisation, and code compression ensured fast page loads even on slower connections, improving both user experience and search rankings.

We created an intuitive content management system letting Cabotswood staff easily update products, pricing, and content without technical help, letting their team manage their digital presence independently. Complete analytics tracking monitored user behaviour, buying funnels, and e-commerce metrics enabling data-driven improvements and continuous platform optimisation.

SEO.

We embarked on a national SEO marketing campaign for Atelius services. We ranked for each specific product offering within the 4 weeks. We worked on indirect keywords and ranked an additional 25 keywords within the first 3 months.

We captured engaged and relevant target audiences and organic website traffic delivered leads and sales quickly. We provided all aspects of on-page, off-page, technical SEO and a full international link-building.
